Answers to the questions we hear most.
Can't find what you need? Email us. A real teammate replies within a day.
Yes. For people who may otherwise face barriers to support, conversations are sponsored by generous donors. Your first conversation is always free. Ongoing connection is available through donor-funded peer conversations.
Allies are caring volunteers who complete non-clinical preparation in active listening, encouragement, companionship, and healthy boundaries. They participate as fellow human beings, not as licensed clinicians or crisis professionals.
Your privacy matters. Life Ally handles conversations respectfully and privately. We do not share your personal information or conversation content except where safety, legal obligations, or our privacy policy requires it.
Life Ally is not a crisis service. If you are in immediate danger or need urgent crisis support, call 911 or contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (available 24/7).
Life Ally provides non-clinical, peer-to-peer connection through listening, companionship, and encouragement. It can be another source of connection alongside friends, family, community, and professional care, but it does not replace any of them.
Click the "Sponsor a Conversation" button on the homepage, or contact us here. Your donation is tax-deductible and helps make scheduled peer conversations possible for individuals who may otherwise feel alone.
Yes! Life Ally is wholly owned and operated by Suicide Sucks, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Your donation is tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.
